  I went off the port side forward with John Hurt in the Battle of Santa Cruz. We never got on a raft or boat but hopped on an old fender. We were picked up by a DD417 USS Morris.

  Was on the Hornet for 3 years, left and went to NTTC San Diego for 2 years. Yokosuka,japan for 3 years left there as SK1 and changed to AX1 then AW1 and retired as AWC. Retired in 1979
